Abstract Families have never existed independently of social, political, economic and cultural environments. This collection uses ethnography, interviews, questionnaires, observations, document analysis and other research methods to explore immigrants and ethnic minorities’ language ideology, language management and language practice in different contexts in a multilingual world, and to show the latest research in the field of the family language policy. This review gives a brief examination of this collection, summarizes its main features and implications for the studies of family language policy in China.
