The Language Exchange Behavior Analysis in the Promotion of Putonghua to Alleviate Poverty—A Language Survey in a Less Developed Area in Anhui Province
From the perspective of sociology, “Putonghua promotion to alleviate poverty” has the nature of social exchange, which includes three forms of language exchange at diff erent levels: conversation, language acquisition and language planning. This study conducted a language survey in a less developed area in Anhui Province. With an application of the theory of language exchange, this study suggests that the poverty population’s expectation of Putonghua’s value should be improved; the task of “Putonghua promotion to alleviate poverty” should be combined with the language practice of learners’ target speech community, and the speech interaction of community members from the two aspects of language acquisition and the construction of speech community facilities should be promoted, so as to fi nally establish a large speech community with the dual identity of dialect and Putonghua.
