Abstract

In responds to the dichotomy of current language issue studies, and draws upon autoethnography as a research paradigm, which emphasizes on researchers’ introspection, this book endeavors to enunciate how language interacts with social variables such as linguistics, education, socio-culture, politics, economy, ideology and how these interactions and intersectionality influence the world’s languages and cultures. Coming from interdisciplinary and multicultural backgrounds, the 15 authors break the usual European-centered pattern of globalization studies, and discuss the expansion of English, identity, and language endangerment from their own experiences, thus presenting to readers holistically how globalization impacts languages and their users and how individuals react to the linguistic globalization in the 21st century.
