Abstract

The outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 has a huge impact on the world and attracts wide attention from scholars and media both at home and abroad. A keyword-based search was conducted in a self-built corpus with data collected from nine domestic newspapers and CCTV news, spanning from January 1st, 2020 to April 9th, 2020. The search results show emerging patterns of the use of keywords such as the naming of the virus, epidemic control and prevention, reopening for work and production, and global fight against COVID-19, which describe the combatting process in different periods and from different perspectives. It is hoped that the patterns of the use of these keywords can help us gain a better understanding of China’s efforts and contributions as well as the problems and limitations in the fight against COVID-19.
